Building Churches in Middle Tennessee
As specialists in church construction and renovation, we’ve led the design and construction team for more than 20 middle Tennessee churches in the past 10 years. We have years of experience working successfully with the unique process of church decision-making and good facilities stewardship.
We function as a key partner and extension of your Building Committee.
The best results come when you select your contractor very early in the process. Making this key decision first advances the project as design-build, the preferred method of church construction. Our early involvement allows us to come alongside your leadership to develop cost with design, schedule with strategic master planning, and reality with your vision. This approach creates a team of trusted advisors, construction professionals, architects, engineers and designers to partner with your organization and equip you with a facility that meets your ministry needs.
Considering an expansion or renovation to your church facilities? Healthy churches across middle Tennessee are responding more than ever before to the spiritual needs of struggling communities and individuals.
Even while the economy falters, years of steady local growth are combining with seekers looking for answers to contribute to full churches, standing room only at services, packed Sunday School classrooms and questions about adding space. At many churches, there is a need for new ministries, but there is a profound lack of space for them.
What a blessed problem to have! The need for more space is an indicator of the work that the Lord is doing within your congregation and the surrounding community.

New Construction of Fellowship Hall and Church Office Building “Old Jefferson planned to build a fellowship hall for some time. With little more than a description of how we wanted to use this new facility, we engaged the services of Dow Smith Contracting to help us in a Design/Build arrangement. Working with Joey and the selected architect, we solidified our design. From the planning process to the final inspections, Dow, Joey, Gary and the rest of the team were a pleasure to work with. Expenses were well controlled, quality was always held high, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We have a wonderful facility where our church family can gather, have some elbow room and grow.” |

Feasibility Study and Master Plan for Church Addition, Facilitation of Design “The feasibility study provided detailed information on the existing facility, showing where there was ample space which was not being utilized to its fullest extent and where additional space should be added. The study was broken down by class and age groups, including Fellowship, Teen, Staffing and Parking Needs. The most impressive part of the study were the number of options provided using the existing facility. A long-term 10- to 15 year plan was given which allowed flexibility to build as growth occurred. Options for financial flexibility were also addressed. The team members of Smyrna Church of Christ found Dow Smith Contracting Company a very professional group of people to work with. Their Christian attitude was very much a part of this company’s business approach.”
