At Dow Smith Company, our Core Values are at the heart of everything we do. This month at our annual banquet, we honored the employees who best exemplify each of these values: Passion, Caring, Hustle, and Detail.
Visionary Dow Smith presented Director of Field Operations Phillip Street with the Passion Award.
“Passion is rooted in a belief in our ability and resources to solve problems,” Dow said. “Where others might see roadblocks, Phillip sees pathways. He empowers others to succeed.”

Community Builder Emily Beasley presented Project Manager Andrea Neely with the Caring Award.
“Sometimes caring is about handling our most difficult jobs and having the patience and determination to make projects turn out beautifully,” Emily said. “It’s about taking the time to send one extra email that guides the project to be one percent better or taking the time to teach and mentor our Assistant Project Managers. She cares about DSC and where it’s headed.”
Construction Technician Trace Petrilli, left, was presented with the Hustle Award by Project Manager Ryan Sanford, right.
Project Manager Ryan Sanford presented Construction Technician Trace Petrilli with the Hustle Award.
“Over the last three years, I’ve gotten to watch Trace grow into an amazing man and an amazing employee and an amazing tech,” Ryan said. “Because of his effort, he can overcome so many obstacles, and he does every single day.”
Project Manager Aaron Fisher, left, was presented with the Detail Award by Project Manager Bryan Jaynes, right.
Project Manager Bryan Jaynes presented Project Manager Aaron Fisher and Executive Assistant Carolee Onstead with the Detail Award.
Bryan said of Aaron, “He knows everything that could happen on a job before the rest of us even see it coming. He has a true gift for estimating jobs accurately and managing them from start to finish.”
Executive Assistant Carolee Onstead, left, was presented with the Detail Award by Project Manager Bryan Jaynes, right.
Bryan said of Carolee, “Her superpower is noticing all of the things the rest of us completely miss. If chaos had a natural predator, it would be Carolee. You give her a task, and you don’t have to think about it again because it will be done. She has a gift for the little details—the kinds of things nobody notices when they’re right, and everyone notices when they’re wrong.”
CEO Joey Rhyne, left, presented Lead Technician Nick Wolfe, right, with the Gary Grisham Service Award.
CEO Joey Rhyne presented Lead Technician Nick Wolfe with the Gary Grisham Service Award. The award is named after Gary Grisham, who served Dow Smith Company from 1999 until he retired as a partner in 2018. He passed away in 2022 after being diagnosed with cancer. To many of us, Gary was a friend, a mentor, a partner, and a hero. He was a key contributor in creating our Core Values, and he lived all of them.
While the Core Values awards were decided by our Flywheel Team, the Gary Grisham Service Award was voted on by employees. Here are some of the things fellow employees had to say about Nick:
“Nick makes us better. He not only takes pride in his work, but he embodies all that we are in the best way.”
“True servant.”
“Nick continues to grow and take on responsibilities without question or hiccups.”
“Every time I see him, he's working hard with a big smile on his face.”
“He values our commitment to our clients, and he appreciates DSC's commitment to him. He lives all of our Core Values.”
“Nick is, in my opinion, the definition of humble servant. I read the description of the award, and Nick was flashing in my mind the whole time.”
“Nick has continued to earn the trust of clients and the respect of his coworkers. He shows up every day ready to serve those around him.”
