Murfreesboro Medical Clinic CEO Joey Peay signs the final steel beam during the topping out ceremony for MMC’s latest project.
Last week, Dow Smith Company celebrated the placement of the final steel beam at our latest project with Murfreesboro Medical Clinic (MMC).
The topping out ceremony was an important milestone on MMC’s two-story facility, which is set to open in Lascassas next year. MMC CEO Joey Peay said he’s been excited to see all the hard work at the jobsite.
“Whenever you’re building something, especially on the exterior side, you can see the progress,” Joey Peay said. “Every day you come out and you see something else.” He said the new building will help MMC’s physicians serve the community better.
“I want to thank the physicians who are here and all the physicians at MMC who’ve seen the need for this growth that we’re experiencing,” Joey said.
DSC Project Manager Bryan Jaynes said this project has been close to his heart.
“MMC is not only one of our most highly valued clients but for me I enjoy building things that feel like there’s going to be an intentional purpose behind them,” Bryan said. “Lives will be changed because of healing in this building. That fires me up for the same reason I enjoy doing churches. You know it’s just a building just like any other building, but the work that’s taking place in these buildings is purposeful and intentional and life-giving. And that excites me that I can be a part of someone’s healing whether it’s physically or spiritually.”
MMC’s new location in Lascassas is the latest project in a relationship that began in 2008 between MMC and DSC.
Bryan said working with MMC reminds him of DSC’s purpose: to serve.
“Construction is just the vessel in which we are able to do that but serving the community and serving others that’s what that’s what really lights our fire,” Bryan said.
DSC COO Trey King said we’ve been so fortunate to be able to work with MMC for 17 years.
“We’re thankful to be a part of this and we’re thankful to be a part of MMC’s continued growth,” Trey said.
MMC Lascassas is the latest project in a journey that began in 2008 with a 1,400-square-foot build-out on Lascassas Pike that is still in use. Then, DSC completed a tenant build-out for MMC’s two-story, 17,000-square-foot space at The Fountains. MMC’s first big expansion, which we completed in the fall of 2019, was a 30,000-square-foot building on Shelbyville Pike. In 2023, we completed a three-story, 75,000-square-foot facility for MMC off Veterans Parkway.
