The MMC team broke ground on their new Lascassas facility on June 4th. This marks the continuation of DSC’s 17-year relationship with MMC.
At the groundbreaking for Murfreesboro Medical Clinic’s new facility in Lascassas this month, Dow Smith Company CEO Joey Rhyne took a minute to reflect on a relationship that has spanned 17 years and multiple projects.
“MMC has been an incredible partner and a big part of our story,” Joey said. “We’re just so grateful for that.”
On June 2, Dow Smith Company celebrated 33 years in business. The groundbreaking for MMC was two days later. The new building will be 39,000 square feet and will offer pediatrics, radiology, and laboratory services, endocrinology, gynecology, internal medicine, and family medicine. It is slated to open in the summer of 2026.
“Projects like this light our fire,” Joey said. “Don’t get me wrong. We’ll build a warehouse or an office. When we can be a part of a project that provides accessible care to people in this community and takes care of their happiness and gives them love and care for their medical needs, or if we can build a church that takes care of spiritual needs so they can worship their creator, that lights our fire.”

MMC Lascassas is the latest project in a journey that began in 2008 with a 1,400-square-foot build-out on Lascassas Pike that is still in use. Then, Dow Smith Company completed a tenant build-out for MMC’s two-story, 17,000-square-foot space at The Fountains. MMC’s first big expansion, which we completed in the fall of 2019, was a 30,000-square-foot building on Shelbyville Pike. In 2023, we completed a three-story, 75,000-square-foot facility for MMC off Veterans Parkway.
Joey praised MMC CEO Joey Peay for his leadership during such much growth.
“These types of projects take a lot of vision, which he and the board have provided,” Joey said. “It requires a lot of perseverance and tenacity to get things like this done.”
