LifePoint Church Smyrna
Owner: LifePoint Church
Location: 506 Legacy Drive, Smyrna, Tennessee
Project Scope: Lobby and restroom renovation
Project Delivery: Design-Build
This design-build renovation included upgrading the restrooms adjacent to the main worship auditorium and improving the church’s main lobby. Dow Smith Company has performed many projects for LifePoint Church—at all three Smyrna, Riverdale, and Stewarts Creek campuses—so we were delighted to be invited back to tackle this project.
The upgrades included new high-end epoxy floors in the restrooms and polished concrete in the lobby. Three-phase power grinders were used to remove years of residue and glue from the flooring. The interior design was led by Paul Biggers of nFusion Design Studio of Nashville and the church, with the help of Project Manager Joey Rhyne.
The main challenges over the course of the seven-week project included designing upgrades that would meet the client’s budget and maintaining public use of the lobby for the church’s 2,000 worshippers while it was under construction. Superintendent Gary Grisham ensured that twice each week, Dow Smith crews prepped, cleaned and secured the site so it was safe for the LifePoint staff and congregation.

Let’s be honest. The cheapest option isn’t going to be the best one. Everyone knows that. It’s common sense. We can all be lured in by low prices. But that’s a terrible idea if you’re planning a construction project. Imagine you’re a business owner. You’ve spent years—maybe your whole life—dreaming of the business you want to run and getting to do the job you love. You’ve thought about the clients you want to serve and the community you want to impact. And now it’s time to design and build the place where you’ll do business. Do you really want to go with the lowest bidder?
